Spain is one of the most popular countries for Brazilians who want to visit Europe. With that in mind, I invited digital nomad and travel blogger, Gabriel, from blog Gabriel Tertulino, to introduce you to 10 tourist attractions in Spain that you need to see!

The grandeur of the Caliph's palace, the Mediterranean beaches, the flamenco dancing, the cathedrals... You can get to know the soul of Spain when visiting tourist attractions like these, which represent the beautiful history of the country, which has a rich culture and stunning natural beauty.

Spain exudes a captivating energy that mixes past and present. For this reason, the country attracts thousands of visitors every year. To give you an idea, in 2019 Spain received more than 80 million tourists and this is certainly no coincidence.

Amidst so many breathtakingly beautiful places, it can be difficult to decide where to go, so I created a list of some Tourist Spots in Spain that you shouldn't miss visiting.

1) The Alhambra and Generalife Gardens

It doesn't matter how much you read or how many photos you saw of the palaces of Alhambra, this Moorish palace will still take your breath away.

The royal palace of the Nasrid dynasty located in Granada is the artistic highlight of Spain's Islamic period, when Al-Andalus (as Andalusia was called) represented the pinnacle of culture and civilization in the Middle Ages of Europe.

The Alhambra complex includes several buildings, towers, gardens and a mosque, but it is the indescribably fitted stone sculptures, magnificent tiled ceilings and beautiful courtyards of the Nasrid palace that will delight your eyes.

The adjacent palace, built for Emperor Charles V, even in its unfinished state, is the best example of Spanish High Renaissance architecture. The Generalife Gardens offer a relaxing and beautiful break from the grandeur and splendid views of the rest of the Alhambra.

2) Running of the Bulls in Pamplona

Pamplona is a city in Navarre, famous for its San Fermín festival, held every year from the 6th to the 14th of July.

At the center of the festival is El Encierro, the Running of the Bulls, an activity that involves running in front of a dozen bulls that have been released, on a course through the city's streets.

3) La Concha

Protected from strong winds by steep cliffs and islands, La Concha in San Sebastian It is considered by many to be one of the best beaches in Europe.

Here you can surf, walk along the promenade in search of good restaurants and enjoy the beautiful views of the beautiful beach.

4) Canary Islands

The Canary Islands should undoubtedly also be on your list of tourist attractions in Spain to visit.

The black sand beaches and historical monuments, along with a trip to the volcanic mountain, will make your trip worthwhile.

5) La Sagrada Familia

An ancient Spanish architect named Antoni Guadi took the Catalan architectural style to another level.

The extravagant and outrageous buildings he created in Barcelona have become historic landmarks and main attractions for the Catalan city.

One of his most incredible creations is called Sagrada Familia Cathedral, one of the most famous postcards in Spain that impresses with its indescribable architecture.

Both inside and outside it is impossible not to admire the features that mark the beauty of the place.

6) Guggenheim Museum

When venturing through Spain, you must visit the Guggenheim Museum, located in Bilbao.

The connection between the museum's design, along with the architecture and collection it maintains, will leave you mesmerized.

The museum is one of five museums belonging to the Solom R. Guggenheim Foundation in the world. Designed by famous North American architect Frank Gehry, the site has become one of the most visited places in Spain.

7) Cuenca

Located between Madrid and Valencia, Cuenca is a wonderful example of a medieval city, built on the steep slopes of a mountain, enchanting thousands of tourists every year.

The many “hanging houses” are built right up to the edge of the cliff, making the place one of the best tourist attractions in Spain. The city is a little jewel in the province of Castilla La Mancha.

8) Seville Cathedral and Royal Alcazar

La Giralda tower, Seville Cathedral and the royal Alcazar combine to form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The tower is a minaret, considered a “masterpiece of Almohad architecture”, according to UNESCO.

The Seville Cathedral impresses with the size of its interior space, the size of a small neighborhood and a main altar with 37 meters of carved statues completely covered in gold. The monumental tomb of Christopher Columbus is raised by a quartet of figures larger than anything you've ever seen.

About the Royal Alcazar, it was started by the Moors in 712 and continued after the Christian conquest of King Peter in the 1300s.

In the ornate neo-Moorish style called Mudéjar, the rooms and halls are breathtaking and the gardens are an extremely relaxing and enchanting stroll.

9) Ibiza and Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands form a group of islands off the east coast of Spain, and are made up of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.

The islands that form the Balearic Islands are Ibiza, Mallorca, Formentera and Menorca.

Ibiza is undoubtedly the best known, famous for its world-famous parties and clubs, visited by many celebrities and renowned DJs.

The island's beaches are stunning, however, in the summer months they are crowded with people who come to enjoy the night.

10) Plaza Mayor

Plaza Mayor has played a hugely important role in the life of Madrid since the 16th century, when Philip II entrusted the task of designing it to his favorite architect Juan de Herrera.

The place served as a stage for ceremonial events such as the proclamation of new kings, canonization of saints, burning of heretics and public entertainment, such as chivalry tournaments and bullfights.

The cafes that line the pedestrian walkway and the shaded restaurants beneath the arcades are Madrid's “living room,” popular meeting places for Madrilenians and tourists alike.

El Teide

On Spain's highest peak, this ancient volcano is also one of Spain's top tourist attractions and one of Europe's greatest natural wonders.

Pico de Teide and Caldera de Las Cañadas, a gigantic volcanic crater, form Teide National Park, in the center of the island of Tenerife.

When listing the park in 2007, UNESCO cited its natural beauty and “its importance in providing evidence of the geological processes that underpin the evolution of oceanic islands.”

You can explore El Teide in several ways, driving or walking through the caldera, which is 20km in diameter and has a beautiful arid landscape of colorful rock formations that are like going to the center of the earth.

You can climb the El Teide cone on foot, or you can take a beautiful cable car ride to get there.

On a clear day, views cover the entire archipelago and can extend as far as North Africa, the closest land mass to the Canary Islands.

As you may have noticed, in addition to its great cultural and architectural richness, Spain offers many other charms, such as beautiful beaches and other natural landscapes.

All of these tourist attractions in Spain show how great the country is and offer options for all types of travelers, from those who like tranquility and peace to those who prefer an adventure with more adrenaline or a more lively night out.
